So after a few reunions and nice lunches with old friends, we got in the Mini and we headed towards the mountains. Jasper was a 3 Hour drive from Stony Plain. As you drive into the mountains and come into the park, it’s absolutely stunning. We both been in the mountains before including the Swiss Alps, but you forget how powerful they really are..

You can’t take too many pictures of mountains though, because they all start to look the same believe it or not. We found our hotel as it’s the first one you run into when you come into town. The Forest Park Hotel is really nice. We liked our room. They had a nice swimming pool and hot tub with many lovely children to enjoy it with. We decided to walk into downtown and as we got to the information centre I turned around and my old friend Kevin Hook from Toronto was standing there with his beautiful wife and children. Great way to catch up and a big surprise. The town of Jasper is a lovely place to have a beer go out for dinner. Looking at all kinds of little trinkets and a very touristy place. 🤠

As we were being touristy, we did pick up some information and decided the next morning that we would take the early cable car up to the top of Whistlers Mountain . Seeing as myself, Monika Love Heights we did manage to make it up in the cable car to the top of the mountain. We went early in the morning for crowds and for heat reasons and it was a pleasant although a terrifying visit. 😬

After the terrifying gondola ride, we came back down went to our hotel put on some summertime clothes and grabbed some lunch to go and headed out for a drive. We ended up the beautiful Fairmount Hotel and at Lake Edith. Naturally because we’re the so organized people that we are we had all of our swimming gear and everything with us NOT but we did manage to put our feet in the water and it was very refreshing and just beautiful scenery around us. 😀

The next day we headed back towards Edmonton, but not without a stop at the Hot Springs. A very cool drive down a mountain road with all kinds of wildlife and beautiful views. You can soak in the three different temperatures of water that are there. 2 hours plus in the water and sunshine was fine for us and we headed on our adventures back to our RV.

It was that time to do a little bit of maintenance work like wash the RV hang out with some of the wonderful people we met and we prepared to go out for dinner with our son NICK, who flew into Edmonton to visit with Rachel and Evan.

We had a wonderful reunion dinner and a great chat with everybody ironically at the same restaurant that we went with Marcus Lester

You know we’ve discovered with this lifestyle that you meet a lot of really cool people and you hang out with people and find out everybody’s different adventures. At our campground in Stony Plain we met and learned a lot of information from our neighbours Karen and Kevin as well as long-term RV folks Leslie and Eric. Good times had by all.

Our next step on the blog will be Rocky Mountain House, which I’m sure will be an interesting voyage. Until then, thanks for following along. 😀
