We departed the KOA and Cranbrook and headed north to Fairmount Hot Springs Resort. This was my old stopping grounds when I lived in Calgary in the late 80s and spent quite a bit of time there. 😃

We spent three days and two nights at Fairmount and while there’s not a lot of stuff to do except eat in the restaurants and hang out in the hot springs it made for a very relaxing visit.

We did take a grocery run to Invermere, which was also a pretty cool town a little bit further up the Columbia River Valley.

When our time at Fairmount came to an end, we drove the hour and a half North on Highway 93 to the beautiful city of Golden. Our campground was right on The Trans Canada, which is fine as it will make for an easier departure when we move further west.

Golden is a nice town and we had a lovely lunch in the downtown which is all fixed up. Very nice for tourists although they are replacing a bridge which puts a lot of construction in town. 🤓

We decided to run back down the valley and go to Radium Hot Springs, which is right on the edge of the Kooteney National Park and we had a lovely two hours soak. We had lunch on the road that we brought with us a rare occurrence for us and had to just a beautiful day. We have had problems with wildfire smoke to the point that one day during our stay in Golden both of us didn’t feel well due to the smoke. You could smell it. You could taste it. You could see it on our drive back. We saw these distressing fires in these photos of actual fire. After our visit to Jasper 8 or 10 days later, it all burned down it is a real problem and something that people here in Western Canada face on a regular basis.

We did some housekeeping, talked to some neighbours and prepared for our journey over the giant Rogers Pass mountain range as we continue through British Columbia 😎

Thanks for following along until next time.
